Ventilated facades

A shell that encloses the building, whatever the type of load-bearing structure: a perfect combination between ceramics, an ancient and durable material, and the most innovative contemporary construction technologies.

The ventilated façade is one of the technological systems related to the concept of dry technology. It is generally defined as an opaque vertical closure system in which the continuity of the layers is interrupted by an air blade.

It can be compared to a shell that encloses the building, regardless of the type of load-bearing structure, bound to it but aesthetically independent.

The ceramic cladding is the most versatile product for the ventilated façade, thanks to its ability to adapt to various fixing systems at different levels of cost and performance.

The use of ceramics on façades allows the combination of one of the oldest and most resistant materials with the most advanced construction technologies.

Contemporary architecture is increasingly showing an interest in vertical expansion and the creation of multi-material envelopes to delineate the façades of buildings. These envelopes consist of various surfaces that are alternatively arranged, creating a modular and light design. The integration of metals, glass and ceramics allows the creation of a ventilated façade that ensures good aeration of the building and enhanced energy efficiency.

The façade modules/frames are pre-assembled with ceramic claddings applied on prefabricated metal frames off-site. The module can be secured by means of joints and/or mechanical fixings to the main structure of the building, through brackets. The concepts of dry fastening and prefabrication blend well together to provide effective answers to contemporary design issues

  • great heights
  • quality control and production timing, through pin-plant refabrication
  • speed of laying on-site
  • possibility of using different materials, colours and sizes, organised in modular system frames.
